Ambuja Foundation Initiates Self-Defense Classes in Chandrapur

Ambuja Foundation congratulates 14 students from the Upparwahi Zilla Parishad School, Chandrapur for participating in the 2nd International Championship 2024 on Karate, organized by ‘World Nakayama Shotokan Association’ at Hyderabad – bringing home 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 7 Bronze medals in the process!

The success comes after Ambuja Foundation provided self-defense training to 35 students (11 Girls and 24 boys) at Z.P.Upparwahi who, till date, have participated in 36 classes through which the students acquired karate skills and built the necessary confidence to showcase their skills. From these 35 students, 14 students who were regular attendees were shortlisted.

Ambuja Foundation, under its physical education & sports promotion program, aims to build core physical skills along with life skills such as team building, sportsmen spirit and leadership skills among children. By encouraging participation in various sport activities – team games like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and athletics like Long Jumps, Running, shot put- Ambuja Foundation assesses the agility, core strength, endurance, speed and flexibility of students, and harnesses the power of sport to develop healthy and disciplined citizens for the future.

In Chandrapur, 15 schools are currently running this program in partnership with ELMS, Mumbai, with Ambuja Foundation networking with the Government Sport Department and various sports organizations to build a robust platform for students to participate in various sports.

A key outcome of the Sports Promotion Program is the significant impact it has made on the attendance rate in schools, with students showing more enthusiasm in participating in sports, which was previously missing due to non-availability of PTE to conduct physical education sessions at primary schools and thus schools get recognitions at district and block level during assessment of CM’s Initiative like Mazi Shala –Sundar Shala and received more marks due to these initiatives.

A ripple effect is also created amongst the school teachers and management of these Zilla Parishad schools by investing in more sport activities.
