A district levels sports meet was organized for women and men at
the Ambuja Pvt. ITI supported by Ambuja Cements in Darlaghat, Himachal Pradesh which was spread
across 4 days involving all students studying at all the ITIs across the
district aimed to promote sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and
confidence-building among male and female ITI trainees.
At the District Level Boys Sports Meet, 16 government and private
Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) participated with the meet being
inaugurated by Dr. Dhaniram Shandil- Health Minister HP Govt. The sports meet
included competitions in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Volleyball and Athletics.
Ambuja Pvt. ITI Darlaghat Boys team secured a position in the Volley competition. A student from the institute secured first place in 400
meters race and came 2nd in both 800 and 1500 meters races.
At the District Level Women’s Sports Meet, 240 young women representing 10 Government and Private ITIs across the district participated in the meet. The event was inagurated by Sh. Yadvendera Paul (SDM, Arki) as Chief Guest, along with Sh. Rajendra Singh Kurmi (Unit Head, Ambuja Cement Ltd.) and Sh. Sandeep Sharma (DSP, Darlaghat) as special guests. Similar sports of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball was organized.
At the women’s meet, an event of cultural performances was also organized with competitions in folk group songs and skits. Group Folk Dance and Solo Folk Song competitions drew a large and appreciative audience. The performances highlighted both regional traditions and individual creativity. These activities reflected the traditional values and creative talents of the students.
Ambuja Pvt. ITI Darlaghat Girls team won first place in Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, second in Volleyball, Folk Dance and Solo Folk Song and third place in Skill. This led them to win the Overall runner up trophy.
The event promoted physical
fitness, cultural awareness and community spirit - serving as an important
opportunity for young women and men to engage in physical activity, express
themselves creatively, build confidence through healthy competition and connect
with peers from other institutions. It was a celebration of learning,
participation, and mutual respect.
The event concluded with awards and certificates presented to winners, runners-up, and all participants for their enthusiastic involvement. This event turned into a platform to identify talent in the district for which 5 trainees from the centre have been selected for state-level tournaments will be representing district Solan. This milestone will help shape their professional careers and open new avenues for growth.
