Ambuja Foundation's Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (SEDI) in West Bengal have partnered with TVS Motors and Castrol India as industry partners to help train and place rural youth in the automobile sector.

The partnership led to the recent inauguration of a new TVS Motors Automobile Workshop at SEDI Sankrail in November. This workshop will train eligible rural youth in two-wheeler servicing, repair, and maintenance. TVS Motors provided tools, equipment, and designed the workshop as per their technical standards.

How will the tie‑up work?

  • TVS Motors will train two SEDI trainers, who will then deliver training to youth seeking a career in two-wheeler service & maintenance.
  • TVS Motors has developed a specialized curriculum to create industry-ready mechanics, aiming to boost productivity and service quality.
  • SEDI trainers will conduct a 6-month Certified Training Course (CTC) for rural youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • After 3 months at the SEDI centre, trainees will get 3 months of on-the-job training (OJT) at TVS Motors dealerships.
  • Successful trainees may then be recruited at TVS Motors dealer outlets across West Bengal and neighboring states.

Ms. Pearl Tiwari, Director & CEO of Ambuja Foundation, shared: “A key step towards providing rural youth with industry-relevant skills, enabling them to forge careers in a growing sector with a reputed national brand. We are thrilled with the win-win partnership that helps rural youth support their families via tangible skills, jobs, and livelihoods.”

Rajesh Rewatkar, Deputy General Manager, TVS Motor Company, said: “TVS Motors is proud to support the training and skill development of rural youth in West Bengal, and contribute to the upliftment of them and their families via this partnership. Partnerships like this not only help us deliver high quality after-sales-service to our customers but also provide tangible jobs and careers to young people of the state.”

The TVS Motors partnership adds to Ambuja Foundation's growing list of industry partners at SEDI, enhancing industry-relevant skill training and job opportunities for disadvantaged rural youth.

Another example is the partnership with Castrol India, which also trains rural youth to become competent two-wheeler mechanics.

To date, Ambuja Foundation has established 34 SEDIs across 10 states, training over 62,000 rural youth.
