Advanced Infrastructure Inaugrated at SEDI

Thanks to Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Education Trust, Ambuja Foundation was able to install a CNC plasma cutting machine at its Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) in Ambujanagar and Chandrapur to encourage girls’ participation in machine operations and manufacturing and an AI Lab in SEDI Bhagwanpur offering advanced skills to rural youth.

This partnership with Sir Mathuradas Vissanji aims to break gender stereotypes by inviting girls to get skilled in male-dominated areas. SEDI Ambujanagar has already enrolled 15 girls who will be trained on the CNC machine and programming for better job prospects in the industrial sector of the state. On the other hand, mobilization for getting skilled in Future Skills through the AI Lab is also underway in Bhagwanpur with many graduates and professionals seeking enrollments.

The CNC Plasma cutting machine value adds training at SEDI, especially in the operating, programming, and drawing sectors. As Gujarat and Chandrapur are hubs of manufacturing on CNC machine and fabrication, companies have also started using CNC plasma in their regular cutting works and Ambuja Foundation saw merit in investing in it. With the increasing use of technology in the industrial sector, CNC programmers and AI professionals are in great demand as they are employed in almost every industry related to manufacturing. Having the knowledge and skill to manage this machine is a great boon as the machine improves automation and flexibility to the operation process.

Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Education Trust is currently supporting the entire project including the purchase and installation of CNC plasma cutting machine and infrastructure setup in the AI lab.. “The Trust was founded in 1946 with the objective of educating the girl child. Skilling rural female youth by contributing towards CNC machines is a small attempt by the Trust to carry forward the vision of our Founder Trustee.” said Arati Vissanji, Trustee, Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Education Trust.

At the inauguration, Pearl Tiwari, Director and CEO, Ambuja Foundation says, “Ambuja Foundation under its skill training program (SEDI) aims to help youth to become future-ready by imparting job-relevant skills and training. With this new CNC Plasma cutting machine and AI lab installation, not only will there be a boost to skill levels, but it will also provide an opportunity for girls to break stereotypes in male-oriented sectors. We are extremely grateful to the Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Trust for this support.”

Apart from machine training, Ambuja Foundation’s SEDI will also focus on grooming and soft skill training so that the girls and other youth are job-ready and are easily placed in jobs. After completion, Ambuja Foundation will provide them with the required hand-holding support and placement opportunities in and around neighboring cities. Placement partners are already curious to receive trainees with such operational skills.
