SEDI Chandrapur - Best ITI Award

Ambuja Foundation’s SEDI Chandrapur won the Best ITI Award under the Nagpur division awarded by the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship & Innovation. There are over 870 ITIs part of the Nagpur division, out of which SEDI Chandrapur was the only one to win the award as a Private ITI.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and Industrial Training Centers (ITC) are post-secondary school vocational training institutes that provide certified trade qualifications in India constituted under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Union Government.

When Ambuja Foundation planned to initiate a skill training centre in Chandrapur, there was lack of interest for short term courses as placement opportunities were low. However, being an industrial belt, industrial related courses which are government certified in the region were sought after. Following various processes, negotiations and follow-ups, SEDI Chandrapur was set up as an ITI.

At SEDI Chandrapur, industrial related courses like Electricals, Fitter, Welding are offered, and having started in 2008, has trained over 600 youth till date.

Dignitaries from the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, industry partners and other prominent guest were present at the event and appreciated the work carried out by SEDI Chandrapur.
