A SROI assessment of Ambuja Foundation's development initiatives in Darlaghat, Himachal Pradesh, was conducted by CII Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CESD) in 2019. The study measured the social value created by these projects over the last three years, considering the social investment and number of beneficiaries impacted. It found an overall return on investment of ₹9.36 for every ₹1 invested, with program-wise ROI detailed separately.
The objective was to assess social value created by six projects across 127 villages in the Kunihar district. Findings highlight significant long-term impacts for both primary and secondary stakeholders living in the core villages of Darlaghat.
Data triangulation showed transformative changes over two decades, including:
- Improved availability of water
- Increased household income
- Better access to health services
- Higher agricultural and milk production
- Improved biomass in the project area
