There are victories — and then there are legacies. This year, Ambuja Manovikas Kendra (AMK) once again demonstrated its sporting excellence by winning the Overall Championship Trophy for a record 18th consecutive time at the 26th Punjab State Special Olympic Games held in Jalandhar.
The event brought together nearly 1,000 special athletes and coaches from 75 special schools across Punjab, making it one of the most competitive state-level platforms for athletes with disabilities. Amidst this strong field, AMK’s 12 athletes delivered an exceptional performance, securing a total of 23 medals across athletics and field events, including a strong showing in the 4x100 metre relay race.
This remarkable achievement reflects far more than medals and trophies. It represents the discipline and determination of the athletes, the unwavering encouragement of parents, the guidance of senior management, and the dedicated coaching and mentorship provided by the entire AMK team.
When the champions returned, they were welcomed with spirited celebrations — complete with bhangra, sweets and applause from fellow students and staff — turning the campus into a festival of pride and joy.
At AMK, sports are not an extracurricular activity; they are central to the school’s philosophy of holistic development. Through sports, music, art and yoga, the school nurtures confidence, resilience and leadership among its students. This consistent focus has enabled AMK athletes not only to excel at the state level but also to represent India at the Special Olympics World Games, bringing home international medals and recognition.
Eighteen consecutive championships are no coincidence — they are the outcome of sustained training, collective commitment, and a culture that believes in every student’s potential.
