Philanthropist Inspired to Sponsor 20 Disabled Students

To further support Ambuja Manovikas Kendra (AMK) students and their families who struggle to make ends meet, AMK has initiated a Child Sponsorship programme, inspiring local organisations and individuals to contribute.

Patiala based Philanthropist, Dr. S.P.Singh Oberoi, Managing Trustee of Sarbat Da Bhalla Charitable Trust is one such inspired supporter who in 2018, supported the sponsorship of 20 AMK students, and in 2019 announced sponsorship of another 10 children.

Renowned for his commitment to Education, Dr. Singh Oberoi plays a key role with Special Olympics Bharat, alongside AMK Principal, Suresh Thakur. On the occasion of the Annual Sports Day, Dr. Oberoi was invited as the Chief Guest and was so impressed with the children, their achievements and the work of AMK, that he announced sponsorship of 20 AMK students from underprivileged backgrounds on the spot.

Sarbat Da Bhalla Charitable Trust, Patiala Punjab is dedicated to the social and economic transformation of rural and remote areas of India, especially the weaker and socially underprivileged groups, through physical, social, cultural and economic development of rural people, groups and institutions.

Mr S.P.Singh Oberoi, 60 years old, is a Businessman with interests in Dubai and a philanthropist from Punjab. "Keeping with the spirit to giving back to society I believe - do all the good, by all the means, in all the ways, at all the times, to all the people, as long as ever you can." He said.

The sponsorship programme has generated support from some individual sponsors from Ropar, Ambuja Cements Limited and some local Trusts, however AMK is seeking support for another 85 children under this initiative.
