In a long-term partnership with the Hinduja Group, the Sustainable Water Management Project in Rajasthan has transformed the lives of over 2-74 lakh people across 173 villages in 5 districts over the past 7 years. The adoption of innovative water harvesting techniques, rejuvenation of traditional water bodies, and the implementation of efficient irrigation methods has marked a significant milestone in grassroots water stewardship and environmental sustainability.

Through focused efforts, the project has implemented 2,116 individual and community-based RRHWS units, deepened 90 village ponds, promoted 65 farm ponds, constructed 218 farm tankas, revived or built 68 borewell/tubewell recharge structures, and developed 13 check dams. It has also facilitated micro-irrigation across 423 hectares and laid a 45,000-meter pipeline to strengthen water accessibility and agricultural productivity. To enhance green cover and environmental sustainability, 1,525 saplings were planted. Collectively, these initiatives have created an impressive total water storage capacity of over 6.07 billion liters, contributing significantly to water security, sustainable agriculture, and improved rural livelihoods in Rajasthan.

A unique and empowering aspect of the project has been the mobilization of over 1,000 Sujal Jankars—trained women volunteers from the community who play a vital role in spreading awareness on water conservation, community health and hygiene, and education. Their active involvement has strengthened community ownership and created a culture of responsible water stewardship. Through innovative water harvesting and recharge techniques, combined with efficient irrigation practices, the project stands as a model of integrated, community-led water and environmental management.
