Breaking Barriers – First Generation Skilled Workers

On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, held on 17th July every year, ACF’s SEDI team organized a virtual event showcasing rural youth who are first generation skilled workers in their family.

As SEDI aims to promote skill based livelihood opportunities, especially to the less privileged, in most cases the students who join SEDI are first generation learners. Their training and development not only positively influences their families but also creates role models in the community.

Ambuja Foundation invited 4 first generation skilled workers to narrate their stories to the audiences. Their reporting managers were also invited to provide feedback and experience on working with them. Hearing their stories and experiences created a great impact in boosting the motivation and morale of the current set of trainees at SEDI.

Ambuja Foundation also invited key speakers Dr. Inderdeep Singh, Professor from the Department of Mechanical Industrial Engineering, IIT Roorkee who provided key insights on industrial training and the ever-changing expectations of the industry. And Dr. Rasika Direwar, who is a progressive entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in the healthcare domain provided insights and outlined key expectations of the healthcare industry.

Trainees and Alumni from across SEDI locations were glued to their screen during the event and gathered some great points from all the speakers.
