Marwar FPO launches Spice Brand - Marwar Hatadi

On the occasion of Rajasthan Diwas, Ambuja Foundation promoted Farmer Producer Organization in Marwar Mundwa, Green Desert Farmer Producer Company, launched their own brand of spices called ‘Marwari Hatadi’.

The Green Desert Farmer Producer Company is a new FPO formed in April 2021 and in less than a year they have united and started marketing their own brand of spices. Marwar Mundwa is an area known for its spices with many farmers involved in spice farming. The farmers are currently retailing cumin, fennel, coriander seeds and fenugreek.

Forward linkages are the biggest challenge for any farming community with the only source of marketing available through the local Mandi. With farmers joining Farmer Producer Organizations, raw materials will be procured for members, with produce processed and marketed by the FPO, with profits being distributed among shareholders.

The main aim of the FPO is to strengthen the capacity of farmers by providing them with maximum knowledge as well as financial upliftment. The FPO aims to be a support system to farmers to help them move ahead, with plans already underway to market the products in online platforms and also target a few retails stores PAN India.

The products were launched by Pearl Tiwari, Director & CEO, Ambuja Foundation, Hemendra Rathore, Unit Head – Marwar Mundwa, Ambuja Cements, and Manoj Agarwal, Deputy General Maanger, Ambuja Foundation.
