Agriculture in Haryana is facing problems like poor soil health, falling crop production, and growing the same crops again and again. This makes it hard for small farmers to earn a good living. In villages, women face many challenges—they often cannot move freely, don’t get enough training, and have fewer chances to earn money or become financially independent.
Communities are being empowered to tackle local water issues, via Ambuja Foundation’s water program which includes a focus on Micro Irrigation Facilities (drip & sprinkler irrigation). There is a focus preparing each village for water security and on water budgeting. Awareness is being generated on the efficient use of surface and groundwater, whilst educating people on the need for rainwater harvesting for recharge.

Ambuja Foundation has been working to strengthen the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers by promoting sustainable agriculture and efficient water management practices. By forming and supporting farmer clubs, the Foundation encourages peer learning, better access to markets, and the adoption of improved farming techniques. Farmers are regularly trained on soil health, water-efficient practices, and sustainable crop management. Farm machinery tool banks have been introduced to reduce labor costs and improve productivity, while demonstration plots promote organic and low-cost methods to enhance soil fertility. The Foundation also supports the installation of micro-irrigation systems to conserve water and boost yields. In addition, it facilitates exposure visits, skill-building programs, and linkages with government schemes—helping rural communities move towards climate-smart, resilient farming systems.

Ambuja Foundation addresses the high burden of NCDs through household-level behavior change communication, risk assessments, screenings, and lifestyle modification. To promote health-seeking behavior, village-level health camps will be organized in collaboration with the Health Department. The Foundation also focuses on adolescent health by promoting menstrual hygiene management.
