We promote improved and sustainable agricultural practices which help farmers to optimise yield and profits, whilst minimising the adverse impact of agricultural practices on both the environment and the people who work in agriculture.
We promote natural and organic practices for crop production, which are environment and human health friendly. We support farmers with training, technical guidance and critical inputs to grow crops in organic and natural ways, optimising produce quality and market value.
We support farmers to adopt crop diversification by changing the cropping pattern or growing multiple crops, so farmers can improve the income from farming and also can reduce risk of crop failure. Ambuja Foundation promotes crops that are environmentally friendly, and help farmers in climate change adaptation.
We guide farmers in diversifying farming by promoting vegetable and fruit cultivation along with floriculture, to enhance their farming income for sustainable livelihoods.
We promote animal husbandry with the focus of improved practices for animal health, to improve the productivity and profitability of livestock rearing for farmer’s and landless families. Our support centres around milch cattle, aquaculture, goatery, and poultry as farmer family enterprises.
Ambuja Foundation is working to harness the power of carbon sequestration or carbon emission reduction in agriculture to ensure that farmers practicing climate resilient practices get some financial benefits from the carbon market. Ambuja Foundation works with different organization at different locations like Varaha in Roorkee Uttarakhand, Bayer and Better Cotton.

In 2009 the Better Cotton Initiative approached Ambuja Foundation to be an implementing partner. It was an opportunity to tackle many issues in the cotton industry, like overuse of pesticides and use of child labour. Today, BCI farmers have cleaned up their act, earn 20% profit and in just 15 years, numbers have swelled from 2500 to 2.18 lakh farmers. Ambuja Foundation also had a term on the BCI Global Council.

Ambuja Foundation kick-started organic farming promotion in 2010 in Bhagwanpur block in Uttarakhand. Today, the district is home to the Bhu Amrit Farmer Producer Organisation, a collective of organic farmers who work across the entire value chain of organic production, certification, and marketing.

Ambuja Foundation is using Goat Based Livelihoods to uplift and empower rural families. How? By forming Goat Based Livelihood Groups; developing a cadre of 'Pashu Sakhi' for door-to-door vet care services; improving breeds by using new, desired and healthy breeding buck; promoting proper feed and fodder management.
For the women of Farrakka, chickens were bad news. Many of them had lost large sums of money investing in poultry before. So, when Ambuja Foundation came along espousing the benefits of rearing chickens, the women needed convincing! Finally, 4 women came forward and agreed to give it a try and now across many location poultry program is scaled up and working with more than 4000 families.
